Description of assignment:
The final product of this assignment was a grant proposal. The project required choosing an organization to write a proposal on their behalf. After an organization was selected, the next step was to research and identify a funding source, analyze the application guidelines, research and describe the problem that needed to be addressed through the funding, and compose a complete funding proposal following the guidelines laid out in the RFP (request for proposal).
Usability Guidelines
Description of assignment:
Introduction to usability. This assignment allowed me to understand usability as a research method to determine how effective something is regardless of genre or medium.
The assignment required the development of usability testing, including evaluation guidelines, the consideration of a controlled setting, post-test interview questions, and a post-test questionnaire.
The assignment demonstrated considering the audience for a specific website, designing questions and navigation tasks that could test the accessibility of the website, and the consideration of the environment in which the usability test would be conducted.
Correspondence Samples
Description of assignment:
For this assignment, I composed two pieces of correspondence. The purpose of the correspondence was to recommend to each audience to incorporate ways to encourage more participation and activity on the Ning site.
The assignment required considering each correspondence's audience and questioning what elements or resources might make a more persuasive case for the intended audience.
This artifact could not have been created without research into the audiences and the understanding of the genres for each correspondence.
